PLEE-zee-oh-SOR-us name means β€œNear lizard”

A snake-necked sea hunter that struck from above the waves!

With its long snake-like neck, Plesiosaurus probably swam with its head above water. After spotting a fish beneath the surface, this marine reptile would suddenly dart its head down into the water and snap up the startled prey with its sharp teeth.
